What Courses can I Use my ELCAS Funding on?
We may be a little biased, but when leaving the forces, bringing your existing skills into the fitness industry is a great way to progress in your career. There are lots of pathways into the fitness industry and ELCAS offer to fund a variety of options.
We recommend studying to a level 3 standard or above as this will help you enter the fitness industry with all the right qualifications.
There are two pathways you can go down when using your ELCAS credits: personal training and sports massage therapy. For both of these, you don’t need any pre-existing qualifications, just a passion for fitness and helping others.
You can use your ELCAS credits for personal training courses like:
- Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing & Personal Training
- Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training (for those who already have Level 2 Gym Instructing).
Once you have qualified as a personal trainer, you can further upskill yourself with courses like:
- Level 3 Exercise Referral
- Level 3 Supporting Clients with Long-Term Conditions
- Level 4 Strength & Conditioning
The other route to go down is sports massage therapy. There are two options for courses depending on how much you want to upskill yourself. These are:
With all these courses, you can use your ELCAS credits towards the cost. Now you know what courses are available, let's look at how you apply for your funding.
How does ELACS Funding Work?
ELCAS will fund 80% of your chosen fitness course, which covers the majority of your qualification. There is always a 20% personal contribution towards your qualification.
For example, our level 3 in gym instructing & personal training is £1750. This would be funded as follows:
