This is your 'One-stop-shop' to become the Ultimate Personal Trainer. From training your clients one on one, working with clients with medical conditions to training athletes and helping them reach their professional goals. Or you could offer sports massage therapy to your clients and offer an all-rounded service to your clients.

We've made it even easier for you to get qualified by making this course available online. You'll learn all the theory from the comfort of your own home, working it around your lifestyle. You'll also have tutor support 7-days a week and we'll schedule one to one virtual catchups to help you get on track.

We'll then invite you to attend training and assessment days through-out your study. Either virtual or in-person and we've made these to work around you, offering several training and assessment days throughout the year for you to choose from.

On this course, you'll receive you'll complete these qualifications:
  • Level 3 Diploma in Gym Instructing and Personal Training
  • Level 3 Diploma in Exercise Referral
  • and choose from either:
  • Level 4 Certificate in Strength and Conditioning or
  • Level 3 Diploma in Sports Massage Therapy

What's covered in each course:

This qualification aims to train learners to a professionally competent level, enabling them to prescribe, plan and deliver safe and effective exercise programmes developing their skills knowledge to pursue a career in personal training. During the qualification learners will cover:

  • Anatomy and physiology, functional kinesiology and concepts and components of fitness
  • Nutrition for exercise, health and fitness
  • Lifestyle and medical factors that affect wellbeing
  • Analysis of client information using the most accepted techniques
  • Assessment of a client’s current health and fitness status
  • Planning and conducting physical activity sessions, within a variety of environments using multiple resources
  • Client consultations using the most accepted methods and providing strategies for successful behaviour change
  • Communication skills to effectively build successful relationships with their clients and other health care professionals
  • Legal and professional requirements for personal training
  • How to set up and manage a personal training business on a self-employed basis if they wish to
  • How to manage, evaluate and improve own performance

This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions and common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme.

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to plan, prepare, deliver and review strength and conditioning programmes that will help athletes to achieve their performance goals.

The qualification is divided into two key units:

  1. Performance analysis of the activity and the athlete
  2. Plan, deliver and evaluate periodised performance-related strength and conditioning programmes

Across these units you will cover the following:

  • The role of a strength and conditioning coach as part of an athlete’s support team
  • Methods of carrying out performance-related needs analysis, measurements and assessments
  • Strategies to analyse and evaluate assessment findings in order to be able to develop and agree short, medium and long-term performance goals
  • Planning, delivering and evaluating periodised, performance-related strength and conditioning programmes

The aim of this qualification is to provide learners with the knowledge and skills to be able to provide sports massage therapy to a range of clients who have dysfunctional tissue, without acute/post-acute injuries or underlying pathological conditions.

  • Anatomy and physiology for sports massage
  • Clinical issues – safe treatment, sports massage regulation, professionalism and ethics, continuing professional development and communication skills
  • Sports massage techniques including palpation, basic strokes, neuromuscular and muscle energy techniques and soft tissue release
  • Assessment of clients, joint and muscle testing, assessment of posture, profiling and appropriate record-keeping
  • Soft tissue damage and repair – injury occurrence and treatment
  • Post-care advice – supporting clients’ return to function

      • Active IQ Level 4 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy
      • Some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
      • The course requires physical exertion, and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
      • There is an element of communication (discussing, presenting, reading and writing) involved and learners should have basic skills in communication pitched at level 2.
