This first day our students learned the origins of Sports Massage Therapy, principles of professional Sports Massage Therapists and how equipment is prepared and presented.
Our students studied the mediums which are the tools that Sports Massage Therapists have available to them throughout treatment. Our students used and practised with these to see which they liked and which they found most effective.
Firstly our students recapped and learned more anatomy and physiology. They then moved onto the basic Sports Massage techniques. The first technique Karl our tutor demonstrates is effleurage.
The next technique our students learned is petrissage. This means to knead the muscle of our clients to separate the tissue.
The final technique our students learned was Tapotement, this helps to stimulate the tissue.
On the third day, Karl took our students through the process of massaging a clients back. Using the newly learned techniques from the day before, our students got the chance to put them all into practice.
Our students moved onto client assessment and the process of ensuring a client is safe and fit to massage. Karl took them through some safety procedures and how to gain the most information out of their initial assessments.
Our final day of our first week, we went LIVE in our academy for you all to see what our students got up to. Tutor Karl took them through the anatomy of the arm and how to massage efficiently and effectively.
